Troubleshooting guide for a BLU-RAY, model Samsung BD-H5100. Released on November 2016.
Audio Distortions
I have trouble hearing the audio for the movie.
The volume isn’t high enough
Use the TV controls or the remote control standardly used with your television set to press the Volume + button a few times to raise the volume of the TV.
The auxiliary cord isn’t fully inserted in the coaxial port
Look on the back side of the BLU-RAY Player and make sure the auxiliary cord is fully inserted into the coaxial port.
The HDMI cord isn’t fully inserted in the HDMI Out port
Look on the back side of the BLU-RAY Player and make sure the HDMI cord is fully inserted into the HDMI Out port.
Won't Play Disk
When I put the disk in the player, it doesn’t play.
The disk is scratched
Remove the disk from the disk tray and check if the bottom is scratched. If the DVD is too damaged, the BLU-RAY player won’t be able to read it.
There is dust in the disk tray
Remove the disk from the disk tray and check the tray for dust. If there is dust, it can cause issues with the disk’s readability and the rotation of the disk in the machine. Take a cloth and wipe down the disk tray and use a compressed air can to clean off the inside of the machine.
There is dust on the disk
Remove the disk from the disk tray and check for dust. If there is dust on the disk, wipe it off with cloth using small circular motions and try inserting the disk again. Do not use large circular motions around the disk as it will scratch the disk.
Won’t Connect to the Internet
I can’t get the BLU-RAY Player to connect to my internet.
BLU-RAY Player won’t connect to the WiFi
This model of the BLU-RAY Player will not connect to the WiFi. Use an Ethernet cord to connect the BLU-RAY Player from the back in the LAN port to the Ethernet port in your home.
The Ethernet cord isn’t fully inserted
Look on the back side of the BLU-RAY Player and make sure the Ethernet cord is fully inserted into the LAN port. Also make sure the other end of the Ethernet cord is fully inserted in the Ethernet port in your home.
The WiFi connection is low
If your Ethernet cord is connected to your modem, make sure your WiFi connection isn’t low. If having issues, reset your modem by turning it off, waiting 3 minutes, and turning it back on again. If the connection is still low, call your internet provider to fix the issue.
BLU-RAY Player Won’t Turn On
The BLU-RAY player won’t respond or show any signs of being on.

Check the Power Cord
Check the power cord to make sure it is plugged in all the way. Without being plugged in, the BLU-RAY player won’t be able to work.
Faulty Cord
Inspect the power cord for damage. There is a chance that the power cord is in a condition where the electricity cannot flow through it to power the BLU-RAY player. If it is damaged, it will need to be replaced. Follow our steps to figure out how to replace the cord.
