The Black & Decker GrassHog XP electric trimmer is designed to cut weeds and high grass with no emissions. The electric trimmer boasts an automatic line feeding system so you don't have to bump the trimmer head to adjust the line. When the trimmer runs out of line, you can replace it with a pre-wound spool or wind the line yourself. According to the Black & Decker owner's manual, you must only use .08-inch nylon line to rewind the spool.

Press the tabs on the line hub cap and pull it off.

Pull the spool off the trimmer and remove any excess line.

Bend a piece of .08-inch nylon line about 3/4-inch from the end to form a hook. Place the hooked part of the line in the slot inside the spool. Wind the line evenly around the outer part of the spool, following the direction indicated by the arrows. Finish winding the line around the inner part of the spool until it's full. Do not overfill the spool with the line.

Place the spool back onto the spool housing and fit the line into the slots. Pull the ends of the line to remove any slack.

Press the spool down lightly and rotate it until it falls into place. Press it down until it snaps into place.

Depress the lugs on the spool cap and fit it into place. Listen for the click sound to ensure that the lugs are in the proper position. Press down to snap on the spool cap.
